The first time going to a hospital in Hong Kong was definitely an experience for me. I caught the MTR to Kowloon Tong and wanted to go to the Kowloon Tong Baptist Hospital. Thought jumping into a cab was the easiest way for me to get there. I was totally wrong!!!
I had to get in and out of THREE cabs - because the driver didn't know what the "Baptist" hospital was. And did I know what it was in chinese? NO.. so i had to get out of the first cab, ring my cousin to ask her what the chinese name was, she didn't pick up, so my second attempt - get into the cab behind. "Kowloon Tong Baptist Hospital ar" and the driver goes " mut yeh hospital?". I'm saying the private hospital lair.. the "see ga yee yuen".."the nearest hospital perhaps?"... He has no idea what I am talking about. In the meantime, my cousin still hasn't called me back. "Go to the cab behind me and see if he knows what you are talking about" he tells me. Meanwhile, there's 10+ people waiting in line for cabs. So I get out of this second cab, then make my way to the next, people are now starting to look at me very strangely. "Kowloon Tong Baptist Hospital ar"... "mut yeh hospital ar?" - thank goodness at this time, my mobile rings and it's my cousin!!! She told me word for word - which I repeated to the driver. (I have now forgotten)
Even though I had "abit" of a taxi challenge =), i finally managed to get there in time to see the BB. Unfortunately, I could only view her through a glass window. Hopefully will be able to hold in her a couple of days when she goes home!!!
